Why Engineering Teams Are Shifting to BYOC

Traditional email service providers (SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark) bundle two completely separate responsibilities: commodity internet transport (relaying bytes over port 25) and application management (dashboards, logs, APIs, and template builders).

Because you are forced to use their shared mail servers, your business pays an 800% to 1,200% premium over raw cloud transit. Worse, your critical transactional messages are mixed into multi-tenant IP pools with thousands of unvetted accounts. When another customer triggers spam traps, your password reset emails get throttled.

**Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC)** breaks this monopoly. You provision dedicated sending capacity in your own AWS account using Amazon SES, while SendPorter provides the modern developer application layer on top.

Zero Reputation Contamination

Traditional email APIs mix your traffic with thousands of unknown accounts. BYOC isolates your sending identity directly to your own verified AWS SES domain. Bad practices from third parties can never degrade your inbox placement.

Complete Data Sovereignty

Customer email addresses, verification codes, and message bodies never sit in a shared multi-tenant database. Your data stays inside your AWS cloud boundary, effortlessly meeting SOC 2, HIPAA, and GDPR compliance mandates.

85% Lower Infrastructure Spend

Pay Amazon SES directly for raw sending ($0.10 per 1,000 emails) while using SendPorter for parcel tracking, webhooks, and analytics. At 1,000,000 monthly sends, teams save over $5,000 annually compared to legacy platforms.

Zero Vendor Lock-In

Your sender reputation, DKIM keys, and AWS SES quotas belong exclusively to your organization. If you ever switch platforms, your domain reputation stays intact with Amazon SES.

How to Connect AWS SES in Under 10 Minutes

Step 1: Verify Your Domain in Amazon SES

Add your sending domain in the AWS SES Console. AWS generates three CNAME records for Easy DKIM. Publish these in your DNS provider.

Step 2: Create a Scoped IAM Policy

Create an IAM user restricted strictly to ses:SendRawEmail and ses:GetSendQuota. No broader AWS permissions are ever required.

Step 3: Connect to SendPorter

Enter your AWS Access Key ID, Secret Access Key, and AWS Region in the SendPorter dashboard. Credentials are encrypted at rest with hardware AES-GCM.
